Most birders I know don't get all that excited when they see a robin. No one would want gold if it could be found if everyone's back yard. It is part of human nature that we tend not to appreciate what we have but instead covet what we don't have.
The American Robin is a beautiful thrush whose only crimes are that they have good survival skills and have mastered the art of reproduction. I see the robin as a reminder to count my blessings.

Larry, this is such an inspiring post and your photos are gorgeous! I also count my blessings when I see any bird, and this includes a robin. They are beautiful and I love the way they kind of run when they walk. :)
You are so right. Beautiful birds that are often overlooked, though I am always glad to see them during spring.
They do have their own unique style of running and stopping when they're searching for food.kind of interesting to watch. They are around Connecticut in the winter as well as the spring but more noticeable in the spring when the ground is soft enough for them to search for worms.
Beautiful bird. It looks very cute.
GREAT POST!
I LOVE robins. We had quite a few winter over this year (central PA), and I kept wondering how they survived.
